The Lord is with thee
Blessed art thou amongst women
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus
Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners
Now and at the hour of our death
Amen

Leader: I am the Lord’s servant
All: May it happen to me as you have said.

The Lord is with thee
Blessed art thou amongst women
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus
Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners
Now and at the hour of our death
Amen

All: Pour forth 0 Lord, your grace into our hearts
That we to whom the incarnation of Christ Your Son

May his passion and cross he brought
To the glory of his ressurection
Through Christ our Lord

About The Angelus

As a child, I grew up at a time when the Cathedral Bell would ring at midday as a practical reminder for practicing Catholics to stop what they were doing and say their beloved “Angelus”.

As I grew up, I attended our Cathedral College primary school, and was one of many who had the “job” of ringing the bell. We would stand under the bell-tower behind the Bishop's house and would jump up and hold onto the rope, (I was playing in the 4st 7lb rugby league team at the time) and the weight of the bell would pull us up and down like yo-yos. We would ring the bell 12 times for midday and got into big strife with the nuns (from Ireland) if it rang 13 times.

The Angelus is a special daily prayer in the Catholic Tradition because it reminds us why Mary is so special.
